Owed to Beau

I'm not writing a true ode here but I like the play on words. I need to tell you about Beau, to whom I owe everything.

Beau was born in the winter of 1994, three days after Christmas. He was five days overdue, taking his sweet time to come into the world. Those of you who know him will know that this has always been Beau, from before birth to present day. He does things in his own time and will not be rushed or pushed into anything.

His mother, a young, immature teenager and father, a dumb twenty-one year old who couldn't take care of himself, let alone anyone else. How could this scenario result in such a miracle? A true angel on earth?

Beau has known extreme hardship and loss already in his twenty six years of life. And despite everything he has gone through, he is a rock star! Not just my rock. He is always there for everyone as a source of constant reassurance, peace and calm. He is loyal to a fault, he would say. Chris would say that Beau reminded him of a Labrador due to his unconditional love, loyalty and fun, easy going personality.

Chris loved Beau immensely! He adopted him at three years of age but the two had been buddies ever since they met when Beau was just one year old.  One of the reasons I married Chris was because of how much Beau loved him.

Beau saved my life by being born and continues to be the number one person in my life. He is still every bit the same. A true, loyal, good person. He does not receive nearly as much as he gives and is yet willing to continue to give.

I am very blessed and proud to call him my son!

Thank you Beau, for everything.
